There has been a growing tendency of meritorious students to pursue professional studies rather than opt for basic sciences. For India to become a knowledge society, we need to strengthen the foundations by building a strong culture of basic sciences among the youth. In this regard, NKC has held consultations to identify the causes behind growing alienation of students from a career in pure sciences and what can we do to redress this situation.
