  NKC Consultations on Aqua Foods
  The following are the Members of the Working Group:

    Former Assistant Director General (International Relations), World Fish Center and World Food Prize Laureate

  2. Dr. S. Ayyappan
    Deputy Director General (Fisheries), Indian Council of Agricultural Research

  3. Shri D. Ramaraj
    President, Society of Aquaculture Professionals

  4. Dr. K. K. Vass
    Director, Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute

  5. Dr. P. Kumar
    Former Professor, Division of Agricultural Economics, Indian Agricultural Research Institute

  6. Dr. K. Devadasan
    Director, Central Institute of Fisheries Technology

Terms of Reference:

  1. Provide ways and means and mechanisms to: a) Explore new food resources from the seas and b) Expand existing food resources from water bodies.
  2. Suggest mechanisms for developing products and processes for enhanced aqua-food use in the country.
  3. Suggest ways of creating awareness on aqua-foods as health foods.
  4. Suggest measures for furthering innovative research in this area.
  5. Provide an institutional framework for a consortium consisting of academia and industry to take this area forward.
  6. Examine any other issues that may be relevant in this context.
